Acey Turns 9

How time flies. My little daughter just turned 9 years old. I planned on cooking special lunch for the family this Sunday to celebrate Acey's birthday but Acey have been bugging his Dad to have a birthday celebration in their classroom. I am not in favor of the idea, the only time I really spend on my kids birthday is during their first & seventh birthday, after and between that, it's always been a simple family dinner of some sort. When you work abroad, you try to compensate for the lost time with your kids by giving anything and everything they wish, mostly in material form. That's exactly what hubby tends to do with our children. He easily gives in to their wishes and most of the time I am the kontrabida (LOL). Oh well, I just try to understand and I realized, Acey, being a diligent student and a loving daughter, deserves her request.

A day before her birthday, I handed to her class adviser the birthday invitations to be distributed to her classmates so the parents would know of the free meal c/o of the birthday girl.

I ordered 40 jollibee chicken joy and spaghetti for her classmates and teachers plus zesto juice. I also bought goldilocks cake and everyone was given a slice of that cake. The kids excitedly sung happy birthday for Acey and they enjoyed the sparkling candles I bought online last December.

Mom's 65th Birthday

February 02 was supposedly my mom's 65th birthday. She passed away 5 months ago. The pain we felt losing her hasn't lightened or changed a bit. It was too difficult to handle because it happened too fast, we were all in shocked. It hit us BIG TIME. God knows how much I try to suppress my emotions everytime I miss my beloved mom. God knows too how much I try to look at the brighter side of things. I know there's a reason for everything.

As her birthday draws near, I waited for my brother to give me a go signal to order catered food and even made a list of visitors to invite. However, I felt my brother is not fond of the idea. He just wanted a simple celebration, invite the sister of my mom and her cousin who were really close to our mom.

I thought of the birthday food that my mom would usually cook whenever member of the family is having a birthday. She will cook them whether you like it or not. Unfortunately, I did not learn her technique/s in cooking roastbeef. Good thing, my hubby and my sister were supportive of my idea and sent me the ingredients and directions in cooking a delicious and well tendered roast beef.

Our househelper is great at cooking pancit guisado and springrolls so I let her do that. I cooked the sipo egg effortlessly. But we fumbled a bit when it comes to roastbeef. Our househelper threw away the water used to boil the sirloin, that was needed in making the sauce or the gravy. There was no point of arguing and it was almost dinner time. I just thought of other way to make the gravy. I boiled 3 cups of water and threw in beef boullion, when it was already boiling, I added the sliced mushrooms to make it a little tender, afterwards, I added the cream of mushroom and voila! Perfected Roastbeef was served on the table right on time!!!

From the morning I clocked out of the office (GY shift), I attended the mass dedicated for mom, bought flowers, went home and checked what else is needed. I then went to supermarket to buy sirloin, got back to the house and slept for 2 hours. When I woke up, I went to La Pieta memorial to visit mom, then went straight to the mall to buy cake.

I was dead tired after the short celebration but I don't mind at all. I'm sure mom was happy with what I did for her birthday. She's happy at the thought I learned to master her food specialties. I know I can't thank her enough, no words can express how much I miss and love her.

It's the last day of January and I am delighted to announce that I won a Yummy Magazine January issue from Candisssh blog. She emailed me and I replied with my contact details including my complete address just in case she will ship the magazine.

This blog talks more about family, friends, FOOD and sometimes beauty products. I am fond of cooking for my family so Yummy magazine is something I want to collect this year. I am excited to learn new recipes!

I hope the year 2012 will be a lucky year for me and win more blog contests. I guess, this is the start!

Family Sunday Snack

I was so in the mood last Sunday to cook merienda for the family. I still have 500 gram pack of Fettucini noodles, spaghetti and pizza sauce and queso de bola from previous holiday season so I decided to buy ham slices, ground lean pork, quickmelt cheese and baguette from last Saturday's grocery shopping.

I started cooking at 3pm and ended at 4pm. The kids love the pizza baguette, each consumed around 3 to 4 baguette plus pasta. We were so full that afternoon and we forgot to eat dinner. The kids just had cereals with lots of milk in it an hour before bedtime.

Party!!! Party!!!

I know it's too late to share anything about the previous holiday season, still, I want to write about how our department celebrated our Christmas Party.

In December 2010, we had our Christmas Party in Century Hotel, Angeles City. We agreed to wear black although few of our fellow Analysts wore a different color outfit. But that is totally fine, their presence is what really matters. The food was okay but not that spectacular. We had games and so much FUN!!!

On the contrary, the party food we had in our December 2011 Christmas party became the highlight of the night care of K Cafe, who happens to be the owner of the famous Shanghai Restaurant in Balibago, Angeles City. Oh so yummy! is all we can utter during dinner...savoring every bite!

I just realized that I've been hosting our department's Christmas party for three consecutive years now. Hosting is exhausting but you will never feel such when everyone truly enjoys the moment! I don't mind doing it again and again.

Healthy Activity

My brother bought this stationary bike few days after Christmas so we have something to use to burn the calories deposited in our bodies for eating halaya ube, BBQs, pastas and a lot of holiday food.

It was only this week that I started using it because my father have been bugging me to exercise. Can you imagine the joy in his eyes everytime he sees me exercising using this bike? If this stationary bike will help me lose weight, I'll consider my 2012 a healthy and better year, otherwise, it's fine. For now, I'm happy using it for 10-15 minutes, losing 200-300 calories.

And oh! my father is asking (actually instructing) my Bro that a threadmill should be his next purchase...waaahhhhh!!!

Hey guys, Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Yeah I know, I'm now a certified lazy blogger. It's been 6 months since my last post, I don't want to make a promise again but deep in my heart there is so much I want to write and share and believe me I continue to visit and read my favorite blogs and would even write my comment's on their post/s that I find interesting.

It's now 2012 and I'm really hoping that this year will be better and kinder to me and my family. Looking back, I would say that 2011 tested my courage, faith and emotion. My family and I faced the most tying time of our lives with the passing of my beloved mom in the last quarter of 2011. I am not ready to share the details yet as I still get very emotional everytime I think of it. It will take forever to endure the pain.

On a lighter note, I am delighted to receive a Starbucks planner with the help of my friends Pao and Coline. It's my first time to have an SB planner. The frugal person that I am is satisfied with having Cosmopolitan or Sterling planner, the dates and days are just the same anyway, be it an expensive or cheap planner. But this SB planner that I have now is special because it was a gift from friends. I did not spend a single centavo to complete the stickers and redeem it.

Have you guys written down your New Year's Resolution yet? I said written because most of the time we just write them and ended up not doing them at all. But it's fun enumerating new year's resolution when a brand new year is about to start. I guess I have an idea what to share in my next post, hopefully soon?

Hi Fellow Bloggers!

Yay!!!...it's been more than 3 months since my last post. I'm not updating my blog but I regularly visit my favorite blogs. My work and my business venture kept me super busy.

So many happened in the last 3 months and no matter how hectic my schedule was, I made sure to find time for everything and that includes bonding with family, friends, officemates and my favorite people in the world, my kids, of course!!! I have stories and photos to share and I'll do it one at a time.

Let me start with our Company General Assembly. This happened last July 19. Employees were requested to wear clothes, accessories and anything with purple color. It was a purple day in SM Clark. Registrations started at 9pm, after registering, you may proceed in the long table closely located the movie gate to get your snacks which included hotdog sandwich, popcorn and a choice of softdrink or iced tea. We're thankful that our site director hastily discussed he's agenda for that day because he felt everyone's excitement to watch TRANSFORMER, Dark of the Moon. After the movie, we went back to the office to finish the rest of our shift.

Gelato Ice Cream: My New Favorite

I have read in so many food blogs I visited about gelato ice cream, it's something I wanna try because of curiosity, however, such is not available in any malls here in Angeles City so I always ended up buying frozen yogurt.

One time, while walking in SM Clark, I saw a vacant stall with signage a gelato ice cream store will soon open, this brightened my face, finally I'll be able to try the famous gelato ice cream.

I have forgotten about it until last Saturday, when my friend Pao and I were at Robinsons Galleria. We went on a business seminar in Pasig from 8am to 12nn, afterwards, we decided to spend our free time in Galleria. We went straight to Starbucks for coffee and dessert. We walked around the mall and we saw Caramia that serves gelato ice cream and cake. We feasted our eyes in the different flavors of gelato ice cream and cake. I decided to try the pistachio flavor for 70 pesos in a small cup.

Gelato ice cream is believed to have less fat than the regular ice cream. Its silky and dense flavor is truly addicting. The flavor becomes stronger as it melts in your mouth.

This is now my new favorite. I'll head to SM Clark one of these days to check on the gelato ice cream stall I was talking about.

Baby Megan

I am delighted to inform you that my niece was born on March 31, 2011. We named her Megan Nicole. My sister in law and I are lucky for being able to give birth via normal delivery and we never experienced long hours of labor pains. Other moms endured almost 24 hours of labor pains but ended up delivering via ceasarian section. My sister in law was in the hospital together with my brother at 1AM and was put to delivery room at 2AM, that’s the time my brother started sending me SMS, I was at work at that moment so I couldn’t accompany him but I kept on texting him back because I could imagine how nervous, uneasy and excited he was even if it was already his third baby.

Megan is such an angel, she got all the beautiful features of her mom. She's the baby of the family. Few months before she came out, my sister working and living in Qatar have collected the old baby stuff such as nap mats and kids backpacks that her daughter used to bring in nursery school. She bought new baby stuff as well and she assigned me to buy Chico feeding bottles which I already did a month ago. However, we will only be receiving the baby stuff for Baby Megan on April 17. I am in search of baby comforter that would perfectly fit her crib with her name embroidered in it like the ones made by Embroidery Dallas especially now that Posy Lane created and launched a new website, North Dallas Embroidery.

My daughter Acey have been asking me for a baby girl, yes, she specifically wanted “baby girl” for sister but I told her that’s impossible because her Dad is working abroad. Secondly, having another baby is the least priority. I just explained to Acey that I wanted to focus on her and CJ, I am happy and contented with the two of them. Now that Baby Megan is around, she suddenly forgot about her request.

Consistent Honor Awardee

This morning, Acey and I attended their Recognition Day. My daughter was awarded "with honor" for having an average grade of 90.26 from first to fourth grading. I was honestly not expecting for this award because my daughter had a hard time achieving perfect score every periodical exams.

I mentioned before that I will never pressure my kids to be the highest scorer in their class, what matters to me is to see my kids enjoy school. I learned from a school owner who happens to be a child psychologist to teach our kids not to compete with others but to themselves, inculcate positive motivation.

Acey is a consistent awardee. She finished her pre elementary schooling with awards every end of school year. Now that she's in elementary, her good study habits stayed the same. She make sure to finish her assignments before playing and she reviews for exams all by herself most of the time.

I'm thankful to God for giving me a daughter like Acey, she's the daughter every mom and dad would wish to have.

No to Unwanted Mails

In this age of computer and internet, we can easily get in touch with family, friends and relatives via email or chat. Gone are the days when you write someone dear to you a letter and send it via snail mail and the recipient will have to wait for several days to get a hold of that letter. Computer and internet will help you write a message to your loved ones and have it delivered as soon as you click on the send button.

The disadvantage of high technology is, it's so easy for someone or an organization to get your information and as a result you experience getting unwanted emails in your mailbox, not only that, you also get unwanted mails and catalogs in your physical mailbox.

Once in a while, I get calls from a marketer for some sales pitch usually from phone companies that offers a phone line, internet service and a mobile unit as one package. I’ll be straightforward and tell the representative I am not interested but because he was trained to do hard pitch, he will make several attempts until he can sense I am already annoyed and will hung up anytime. To avoid this from happening, I stumbled upon Catalog Choice that will help get rid of unwanted mails, they can also work on unlisting your name from phonebooks to stop receiving unwanted mails from your physical mailbox. This is simply awesome!

Coffee Date

Me and my friends at work had dinner and coffee date last Friday. We invited Mark and Pao who already resigned from the company.

Few days before our date, I suggested that we eat at City Lunch and take advantage of the 100 peso eat all you can promo. I heard from an officemate there are few selection of viands from that buffet but the food is great. My friends agreed, however, when Mark and I got to the venue, there was an on going wedding reception in City Lunch and it's not open for public. So we decided to have dinner in Extremely Expresso in SM. We relished the Big Ben pizza and pastas.

After eating, we had a long chat as we wait for our tummys to digest the pizza and pasta to give room for coffee or frappe we intend to order. Unfortunately, we noticed a "closed" signage that was put on the door of Starbucks. They closed earlier than usual due to some on going repair in the coffee shop. Our friend Pao was so disappointed, she's a Starbucks Cafe Mocha addict. We transferred to Cafe Beatico and in all fairness, their Cafe Mocha tastes like the one in Starbucks.

We all had a great time even if there were changes in the venue. I thank my friends for being flexible, when it comes to food, who wouldn't be, right? We all had a happy tummy on a Friday night.

I look forward to our next date.

School Year 2010 is Over

Today is the last day of the final exams of my kids. I am very happy simply knowing that summer vacation is here. I can watch TV late at night during weekends especially on Sundays without having to worry of waking up early the next day. This also means a little savings because my list of grocery items will be lessened.

However, after a month, I have to think of the enrollment of my kids. My hubby and I have equal share in the school expenses of our kids. In as much as I want to make full payment of their tuition fees, the budget is not enough, unless the loanable amount I get from Home Mutual Development Fund (HDMF) is bigger this time. Yes, I do avail of the multi purpose loan every year from the said entity to accommodate my kids' school expenses such as tuition fees, school supplies etc.

I will head to HDMF office second week of April to file my loan application. It is such a hassle to go to their office but I don’t have any choice. How I wish the loan application can be done online, afterall, HDMF has a website where answer to basic inquiries about their services can be found, might as well use that website when filing for loan application. This is one ultimate improvement HDMF should take into consideration…enabling their members file loan application or loan mortgage refinance in just one click.

My make up brushes are international because they have different brands like I have an Elf blending brush, I also own pointed brush from Marinnaud and etc. When I started my love for make up, visiting beauty blogs and watching make up video tutorials, one of the things I plan on purchasing is a set of make up brushes preferably with Sigma brand. GrandBall 2011

My son CJ who is in grade 5 attended their grand ball last Friday. This event was actually intended for grade 5 and grade 6 students only, it's sort of JS Prom in Highschool. Of course, like any other stage mom, I am more excited than my son. I rented a suit for him and prepared everything. At 5pm I brought him to the salon near our place for his hair to be trimmed and styled. Believe me, he looked gorgeous in his suit like a true matinee idol (wink).

We arrived at the venue (Mar's Garden) past 6pm and the program started at exactly 7pm with cotillon dance from grade 5 followed by grade 6 students. The program was full of dance numbers, mostly, ballroom dance. Teachers also prepared dance numbers and I must say they were graceful, some rendered song numbers.

I did not leave my son all throughout the evening, except during dinner. I went outside and ate in Jollibee located few steps away from the venue and some parents did the same.

The program ended past 12 midnight. I saw my son enjoyed the event, he did table hopping to greet his classmates and schoolmates like it was his own party. He has become sociable and friendly.

Deviled Eggs

My sister is working and residing in Qatar with her hubby and daughter Nicole. Eversince my sister started living in Qatar, she learned to cook different dishes and I encourage her to take a photo of the dish she cooked for the whole day or for any occassions. I also suggested to her to make an album in her Facebook intended for the photos of the dish/es she cooked and she gladly obliged. Everytime there is an added photo, she couldn't wait to tell me about it and excited to see my comment/s.

However, sometimes she runs out ideas of anything to cook for her family and housemates especially during special occassions such as Christmas. She's fond of bringing in appetizers for parties for potluck, the recent she did was deviled eggs. Her housemates were amazed with the said appetizer but little did they know it was super easy to make.

When not busy, I would search in the internet for new mouthwatering dishes for my sister that will surely become a hit to her family and housemates.

I'm on graveyard shift, it's 2am and I'm still alive because of J Lo. I envy her curves, sexy face and of course her insured behind. I love her make up, neutral smokey eyes and pale looking lips that gave emphasis to her Latina beauty.

I like the Lambada tune they included especially at start of the video, I suddenly remembered back in highschool when we performed the Lambada dance and won the university dance competition. How I wish digicams were available then so I have proof to show you guys through photos...haha.

Birthdays: Near and Far

Near. My kids and I together with Chinadoll attended the first birthday of our Manager's first daughter held last Saturday in Century Park Hotel. The theme was Hello Kitty which is why I decided to buy Melody stuff toy as birthday gift for the celebrant. The venue was big enough to accomodate plenty of visitors especially the kids who immensely enjoyed the party program. The host from Jen Belen party and event organizer was amazing. She was hosting, singing and dancing with matching Hello Kitty costume.

Kids were given Ben10 and Hello Kitty loot bags for boys and girls respectively, as they enter the venue. We were also given stubs for ice cream, hotdogs, pop corn and cotton candy that you can munch on while attentively watching the program until you hear the go signal to line up for the main course. Since my kids are 11 and 8 years olds, they did not avail of the kiddie meal, they prefer food intended for adults. After eating, the program continued, kids and mommies including me got busy collecting candies from the candy buffet set up right beside the stage.

We also enjoyed the photobooth service. It was exciting to pose for the camera and quickly grab another head accessory for another shot, time pressured but defintely a lot of fun.

Far. It was hubbys birthday last March 08, a day before that, I bought Sansrival cake in my favorite cakehouse. Even if hubby is several miles away, I make sure to buy him a cake on occassions like birthdays and father's day. It's my way of making him feel important. I'm hoping he'll be able to celebrate his next birthday with us because he will be turning 40 then. I want to organize a party, invite his friends and relatives and all the people close to his heart. I wanna make sure it's a birthday party he'll never forget in his lifetime.

Our Sunday Lunch

This is what we had for lunch yesterday, steamed tilapia. The ingredients weren’t complete, we lack bell pepper and lemons, but still, mom and I pushed through with it. We wanted something healthy and different for Sunday lunch. So I thought of the steamed tilapia that my Sis, who is in Qatar, cooked for her hubby and housemates. Incidentally, my father prefers fish than meat because he's very health conscious.

We also made steamed pusit(squid) stuffed with onions, tomatoes, kinchay, a little bit of salt and mayonnaise. I wasn’t able to take a photo of the steamed pusit because the family were too eager to attack them. Like a blockbuster movie, our steamed tilapia and pusit were a big hit in the family.

The Oscar Academy Award is undeniably a popular award giving body in Hollywood. I was not able to watch when it was shown on TV last February 27, 2011. Well actually I don't look forward to watching the whole show every year, there is another way to find out about the highlights of the show which is the internet. The only thing I am extremely interested about Oscars is the Red Carpet where Hollywood stars flaunt their expensive branded gown including the jewelries and accessories that goes with it. Two of my most favorite glamorous outfit were both radiant red worn by Ann Hathaway and Sandra Bullock, they both looked like living dolls.

My Alma Mater

My Alma Mater, Angeles University Foundation (AUF), is a famous university here in Pampanga and it actually specializes in medical course. Beside it is the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center. Our school location has now become highly commercialized. You will see major fastfoods, drugstores and specialty stores that sells medical uniforms and scrubs, within the vicinity.

There are international students enrolled in AUF taking up medical courses such as Physical Therapy, Medical Technology and the likes. It's easy to identify them through their uniforms like the nursing students wearing medical nursing scrubs. And speaking of uniform, if I am a nursing student paying expensive tuition fee, instead of buying medical nursing scrubs within the university which is certainly more expensive, I'll resort to searching online on where to buy medical scrubs that offers big discounts.

In this time where prices of commodities including uniforms are skyrocketing, you need to be resourceful to be able to purchase the cheapest product made with quality.

Highschool Batchmates

I was in Makati together with my son CJ and my brother in law the whole day last Saturday for something and I'll blog about it next time. We got home at 6pm, I rested for an hour and prepared to go to work. I had second thought of leaving because I haven't slept and was obviously tired from the Makati trip but I thought of the meeting regarding our grand reunion of my highschool batchmates we scheduled a month ago. I filed an undertime so I could attend the meeting before heading to work.

The meeting was at 7pm in Starbucks, I got to the venue 30 minutes late. I felt good seeing old classmates and batchmates. It was a productive meeting, we were able to tackle a lot of topics related to the grand reunion that will happen December of this year. We look forward to seeing other batchmates who will be coming home for this anticipated event. Everyone was free to give their suggestions to make the grand reunion unforgettable and enjoyable. One thing we considered is for our batchmates living or working abroad to realize it was worth coming home for the reunion.

I decided to take an active participation in organizing our grand reunion and I look forward to the next meeting.

Pinaupong Manok

It's the last day of February and before we move on to the month of March, I'd like to share a recipe I learned from my brother -in-law several years ago, we call it Pinaupong Manok. This is always part of my menu every holiday season. The chicken is stuffed with butter, onion, garlic and lemon grass. The whole chicken (i prefer Magnolia chicken) is laid in soda (sprite or 7 up) and whole corn kernel. It takes 40-60 minutes for it to cook in low fire.

So easy to prepare yet so appetizing and yummy.

Plants and flowers can add beauty to the house, whether it's indoor or outdoor. I envy houses with garden regardless of size, that's one thing you won't see in our 300 sq meter house. Yes we have big space in front of our house and there are four big trees namely mango, caimito and 2 chico trees that provides shading, however, you won't see grass and flowers place in planter boxes or any outdoor planters.

My sister-in-law and I attempted to plant small trees and flowers on plant boxes and slowly create garden, unfortunately, those plants died after a few months. I remember buying tomato and calamansi plants last year and the same thing happened, they all died and we accepted the reality that we're not skilled to grow flowers or any kind of plants, moreso, create a beautful garden. We may resort to hiring somebody to do the gardening and landscaping in the future.

After doing a little research in the internet, I learned tips and techniques on how to grow plants and flowers and there are numerous containers or planters available made of different materials like fiberglass, ceramic, stones etc. I guess for now, I'll be satisfied buying fresh flowers and placed them in a beautifully designed ceramic planter or vase.

Sleeping in a Bed of Heaven

Everytime I am in department section of SM Mall, I usually visit the Home Section to check on bedding, pillow cases and comforter-set. I am fond of buying pillow cases that would match the color of the bedding collection I currently have. I am in fact, saving up for comforter –set that we can use during rainy season when the weather or climate is conducive to sleeping. And for our bed, I’d like to buy side tables and an eye catching lamp would be on top of it.

When Toots and I were in Cebu last year for a business trip, we were billeted in Parklane Hotel and it’s a lot better compare to Peak Hotel we first tried during our first trip in the said province. The bed in Parklane is more comfy, it’s covered with comforter and beddings all in white colors. The feeling is like sleeping in a bed of heaven.

After dining in a Korean resto Friday of lastweek, we decided to try the newly opened Tre' coffee shop located near our office. It took us a while to finally place our order because we got busy reading their menu posted on the wall right behind the counter, thinking at the same time if the taste of their frappe and coffee would parallel those of Starbucks.

The male staff in the counter asked us if it was our first time to visit the coffeeshop and we said yes. My friend Pao teased the guy if we can try one of their desserts for free for being first time customers. The male staff went inside to probably ask the manager on duty if our request is possible, he came back with a smile and informed us we should dine in to enjoy the free dessert.

The cinnamon caramel honey bread was served to us. It has a couple of sliced bread toasted with butter topped with cream and caramel syrup with lots of cinnamon powder spinkled on it...I so loved the aroma of cinnamon powder...it was indeed a SUGAR OVERLOAD night and HAPPINESS because it's seldom you get free dessert nowadays!

Get rid of Unwanted Mails

Everyday I check emails more than once and each time, I see unwanted emails in my spam folder. I never attempt to open them for online security reasons, but instead, I immediately delete them all at once, what's annoying is they keep coming back. I wonder how to get rid of those spam emails forever!

Recently, I discovered about catalogs that will help remove your screenname or other information that may be used by marketers or advertisers. Catalogs will give you an option to unlist your name from marketers to stop sending you advertising emails you are completely not interested in. What’s great about it is, you can avail some of their services for FREE.

One thing I learned from all these is that sometimes when we make purchases online, we give out our personal information such as email address or phone number simply because they are needed to complete the transaction and delivery of the product we purchase online. Little did we know, some companies would sell those information to other companies who send us advertising emails found in our spam folders. To avoid or reduce unwanted emails, there is this service called UNLISTING SERVICE. Thank God such service was discovered and available. This will make our online experience a lot better.

Simple Family Celebrations

My family seldom celebrate occassions with a big party, invite relatives & friends with lots of food to share. Me and my siblings never demanded for a party to celebrate our birthdays. In as much as my parents would like to provide us party during special occassions, they could not afford it. We accepted and understood that. When I was little, I can vividly remember the whole family would dine in Nelson's Balloons in downtown Angeles City with yummy bibingka as their specialty on special occassions. My siblings and I would excitedly play in the see saw inside Nelson's Ballons right after eating pancit and bibingka while my parents stay in the table and chat, look at us while we're busy playing. The only time my parents threw a party was when my brother passed the board exam for Mechanical Engineers in 1998, and that's something worth celebrating.

Now, whenever there are family occassions, still there's no party but we all dine out or eat somewhere and try some specialties of different restaurants. Honestly, I like it that way, it's more intimate, convenient and hassle free.

Last January 09, my brother and his wife celebrated their 13 years of marriage. We had an early dinner in Extremely Expresso because my brother and our kids craved for pasta and pizza.

On February 02, mom turned 64 years old, she didn't want to go somewhere and eat, she preferred to just cook for the family since it was weekday and thought my father and my brother were tired from work to go out. She cooked pancit, chicken and cheese lumpia. I bought her flowers and Pandan cake from TollHouse on behalf of my sister who's in Qatar.

Acey's birthday was February 10 but we celebrated it last Feb. 13 which is Sunday. We had dinner in Max Restaurant in Marquee Mall because Acey's favorite is chicken and ate her share of Max chicken unswervingly, she almost uttered "Sarap to the Bones!".

Macapuno or Egg tarts?

My sister knew somebody working in a posh bakeshop in Qatar who have mastered making egg tarts, similar to the famous egg tarts in Macau. I haven't been to Macau but my friends raved so much about the egg tarts. When I saw photos of egg tarts in my sister's album in Facebook, I asked her to request for a copy of the recipe and days after, she emailed me it to me. Unfortunately, the oven in my mom's house is out of order so it is impossible to execute the tart recipe.

Yesterday, I dropped by at SM before I head to work to buy bread I can eat at work (on my second break)and entered Pan de Manila store. I bought cheese pandesal and saw the Macapuno tarts, I suddenly remembered my sister and the egg tarts we've been talking about. There are actually 2 kinds of tarts being sold in Pan de Manila, the Egg and Macapuno tarts and the latter is the only one available at that time, so I grabbed it, priced at 62 pesos for 3 pieces. I ate the two after waking up from a long sleep and the one left was consumed by Acey. The taste was okay but it did not meet my expectations, nevertheless, I still wanna try their egg tarts.

Whenever a politician's property such as multi million peso house or luxury car/s is featured on TV or broadsheets, you can't help but raise your right brow and the intriguing set of questions will pop into your mind but seeing Manny Pacquiao's 4,500 square foot LA house, you are certain it's the fruit of his labor. The money he spent buying properties here and abroad came from his own pocket. Filipinos and people all over the world witnessed the success of Manny's boxing career. In fact, he received an invitation from none other than the President of the United States and probably talk about the humble beginnings of Manny Pacquiao and his plans about his boxing and political career.

Whatever material things that Manny Pacquiao possesess now and in the future, he deserves it. Let's all be happy for him and thankful for the Glory he brought to our country.

Make Up Artist of the Night!

One of the things I am recently addicted to is reading beauty blogs and watching make up video tutorials in youtube especially those by my favorite and popular Michelle Phan and I learned a lot from it. I started buying make up of different brands but not those expensive ones, just those commonly known as drugstore make up such as Maybeline, Elf and I even bought Coastal Scents online.

I was finally able to maximize the use of those make up and applied what I learned from my favorite beauty bloggers during our Christmas party held last December. I came to the venue early so I could apply make up to some of my female officemates. Unfortunately, I was unable to take a photo of the ladies before the make up session started becase we were too eager to finish and start the party. Here's my finish product:

We call her Mommy O. I applied Myra E foundation as base and used pink and purple shade eye make up from my coastal scents palette

I used black and silver eye color make up for Jovy to perfectly match her outfit for the night

And for Toots, I chose subtle blue smoky eyes that made her flawless & radiant skin more obvious

Korean Dish: Healthy & Delicious!

I started to appreciate Korean Dish after dining in a Korean Resto a couple of times located inside New Well Being Spa & Hotel which is few meters away from our office. My officemates and I would go there for dinner when our palate would crave for veggies and something spicy

There are actually a lot of Korean Resto you can find in Clarkfield Pampanga. Koreans invaded our country and seems to enjoy their stay here. Anywhere you go, you will see them especially in malls. There is in fact a police station along Friendship hi-way dedicated for Koreans. Some of my officemates and friends enjoy a part time job by teaching Koreans to master the English language so they can easily communicate with non Korean speaking individuals

Ever wonder why Koreans have flawless skin? Have you noticed when watching Koreanovela, their actresses barely wear make up but still look fresh and radiant on cam? In my observation, it has something to do with the food they it. Their dish composed a little of meat but plenty of veggies. It is a common knowledge that vegetables are rich in fiber and helps to make you stay healthy. Also, they're fond of spicy food and whenever you eat something spicy, you tend to drink so much water, not to mention, they are tea drinkers of different kinds. So much intake of veggies and water helps eliminate regularly, in fact, everytime, I eat Korean dish, the effect is like doing cleansing diet the next day, I feel like all the toxins inside flushed out which made me feel clean and light. Because I like the effect, to eat in a Korean resto at least once a month is part of my new year's resolution

Christmas is over but I just want to share I made choco banana cream pie that I gave away to friends and god parents of my kids last holiday season. I have the option to just order pastries or cupcakes from friends but I want to give something with personal touch. I also made a sticker “ Whip It!” by Sweet AiDiSan and pasted it on the cover of the cream pie. A big cup of Bannofie pie or Banana Cream Pie in Starbucks is outrageously priced at 135 pesos.

A Busy December

Hello Fellow Bloggers!

Let me start by greeting you Belated Merry Christmas and a Blessed and Wonderful 2011!

My December was a busy month. I attended 3 Christmas parties. I got busy brainstorming with my mom and sister-in-law about what to prepare for noche buena and media noche. Since we're living in the same compound, we decided to do it the potluck way, cook our own specialties and place them on one table so that all members of the family will just get their preferred dish.

The Christmas party of the QA department (where I belong) was held Dec. 10, 2010. We decided to do it early because we do not want to stress ourselves making reservations for venues, everyone knows that December is the peak season for almost all kinds of businesses, venues included. Our department's christmas party was a huge success! Everyone came in their best attire. The food was great. One of our teammate Lhen came in the venue early to do the table settings and the highlight of the occassion was the pictorial. Vic who has an innate talent in photography brought her DSLR and newly bought continous lights and transformed one corner of the venue into a professional photography studio. Suddenly, the team is composed of one whole cast of a Telenovela.

Two days after, my kids and I attended a family reunion on hubby's side. It was held December 12, 2010. Even if hubby wasn't here or wasn't able to come home for christmas, I make sure that me and my kids are present in his relative's gathering most especially if it is a family reunion.

Lastly, I also attended our highschoolbatch's christmas party held 4 days before christmas day. This was also the reason why only few of my batchmates were able to make it. We organized it especially for one batchmate who arrived from the United States to spend the holiday season here in the Philippines. She shouldered the expenses that night. We got Big Big discount because it was held in Wishing Well, managed by one of our batchmate.

So there, it was a December full of parties and happenings.

I Got Featured!

I received one great Christmas gift, not a material one but it's something I greatly appreciate. I am delighted to share with you that I got featured in Nelson's blog, this is something unexpected. Nelson is one of the bloggers I treat as a friend...in fact, I also visit his son's blog and by doing such, it gives me a chance to really know Nelson and his family. I know this guy has a good heart and provides commitment and sincere service to his patients not because he is paid to do it but simply because he finds fulfillment in giving service to anyone entirely not related to him, not to mention the fact he's an OFW like my hubby who works hard to provide for his family.

A little something from Hubby

Hubby sent some tops for Acey & CJ which I think he bought at an affordable price in Qatar. I got them this morning and as soon as the kids came home from school, I had them tried the tops and it perfectly fit them. Because Acey's size is bigger than her age (she's 7 y/o), hubby got the size for 10 to 11 year old girl. I don't have to rush to SM department store anymore now that my kids have something to wear on their Christmas party that will be held this coming Friday (Dec. 17). In addition, hubby also bought candies & chocolates for us, different from what he usually sends us which is Galaxy chocolates. My kids and I promised not to touch these sinful sweets until Dec. 24 BUT that is just promise...we'll try...hahaha.

DIY Cupcake Stand for Toots' Birthday

Toots celebrated her 30th birthday in Fontana last Saturday (Nov. 27, 2010). She's undeniably one of the prettiest and sexiest mom I know. This hot mama is also a fashionista. She’s addicted with plains and prints dresses and highheeled shoes and a lot of branded stuff every girl wishes to have. We thought she doesn’t need material gifts anymore so we thought of bringing cake and cupcakes for her birthday with matching 5 tier cupcake. Collyn who’s starting a baking business volunteered to bake the red velvet cake and cupcakes. We actually had a tastetest of her red velvet cupcakes and we approved it with two thumbs up. The cream cheese frosting was perfectly done. All we can utter is “mmm…” after every bite.

I volunteered to take care of the tower cupcake. I inquired to one of the cupcake seller in multiply and attempted to order. It took 5 days for the exchange of messages (excluding the days the multiply seller didn’t reply in my emails) and when I was about to order, unfortunately, the delivery of the cupcake tower won’t make it on the day I needed it. I didn’t tell Collyn and other friends about it because I do not want to disappoint them. I do not want to hear “it’s okay” when in fact it’s not, considering I had enough time to order it.

It’s already Saturday and the event will be held at night. I got in touch with cupcake sellers I know who owns cupcake tower and ask if I can rent it and VIOLA…NOT AVAILABLE! I was so unlucky that day...I got stressed!!! Then I thought of the DIY cupcake stand I read in one of the blogs I follow. I run into the craftstore to buy all the materials needed and assembled everything with the help of my little girl Acey. It may not be a 5 tier cupcake tower as originally planned, it’s just a mini cupcake stand AND when I saw the finish product in the picture with the actual cake and cupcakes on it, oh boy, you’ll agree with me if I say it’s a BEAUTIFUL mini cupcake stand. This is one of the nicest and cutest thing I’ve done in my entire life. Here are the photos and let me know what you think…

Kids love Snack Time

Sometimes I make an effort to make special snack or merienda for kids. Their current favorite is anything with cheese like pizza. My daughter Acey is always willing to help me prepare snacks for them and started to admire me for being able to copy simple recipes in the internet. It’s actually my indirect way of telling my daughter if there’s one thing you’ve been meaning to do, go for it. She wish for me to have a bigger oven that will enable me bake cakes and cookies and put up my own bakeshop eventually. Her wish is my prayer. I can not imagine spending another 10 years in a call center, which is why I’m saving up for an oven and enroll for a basic baking course to enhance my baking skills and while waiting for that to happen, I have mastered making no bake cheesecake and banana cream pie.

I made hotdog & cheese sandwich ala Jolly Hotdog two Saturdays ago and baguette pizza for today. Incidentally, my son’s classmate who happens to be a distant relative was here to enjoy the snack as well.

A Spooky October 31

I was supposed to bring CJ and Acey in the trick or treat activity of Marquee Mall held last October 31 at 10 am, but good thing I changed my mind. I knew from the pictures uploaded in Facebook from friends that most of the kids who joined the trick or treat activity were pre toddlers. They all looked so cute and adorable in their costumes. But we attended the halloween party organized by my highschool batchmate in the afternoon of October 31.

CJ was captain John Smith while Acey was a little fairy. I wore black top, jeans and higheeled black shoes and tried to copy the seductive vampire make up of Michelle Phan minus the contact lens. Unfortunately, I didn't have close up picture because I was busy taking photos of my kids. I used Acey's headband with a black flower to match my get up, I actually planned on putting a tool on it and some feathers to make it look like an empire hat just like what the designer Mich Dulce was known for, but there was not enough time for me to execute my kikay idea.

We arrived at the venue on time and I brought chocolate rumble from goldilocks. The hosts of the event were busy arranging the candies, materials for the games and making the venue spooky looking. Whenever guests would arrive, they get giddy taking pictures of the venue, the food plus kids wearing costume.

Kids enjoyed the candies more than the food. They got energized after the first game which was the "donut eating contest" and I did an impromptu hosting for the second game because my batchmate was already exhausted and requested me to facilitate the "picture perfect" game.

It was another memorable Halloween event for my kids. CJ and Acey's pumpkin baskets were almost 100% filled with candies and they shared some with their cousin the next morning.

Stage Mom

I am immensely enjoying my well deserve rest from work since October 29. I’ll be back to work on Nov. 02, if president Noynoy Aquino will not declare it as a holiday.

But before my vacation, I got too busy accompanying my kids in their practice and performance for the Achiever’s School Festival. My eldest CJ joined the Cheering Dance competition held last October 27. He was also part of the Jabbawokidz who rendered a special dance number in the early part of the program. CJ was undeniably excited before, during and after the Jabbawokeez performance. He considered it as one of the happiest event in his life. He would watch Jabbawokeez in youtube almost everyday as part of his preparation for their dance number. Unlike in the Cheerdance, he joined because it was a requirement, their grades in PE subject will be based in their participation in the Festival.

On the other hand, my daughter Acey was part of the Mass Demo held last October 28. They rendered a broadway performance and gracefully danced to the tune of Life is a Cabaret, Big Spender and New York, New York. They all looked cute and pretty in their costumes.

I only had 2 hours of sleep for 2 consecutive days. I can not afford to miss the performance of my kids even if it will cause me sleeplessness (is there such a word?). I admit I am a stage mom. I uploaded pictures as soon we got home after every performance so that I could show them to hubby. He’s certainly as excited as I am to see the photos of our kids and who knows, maybe one of them will realize performing onstage is a passion and will bring it to next level :P.

Cebu Business Trip

Our Cebu trip was from Aug. 24 to 27, it was purely business trip, meaning, no time to see and enjoy the tourist spots in Cebu. The hotel we were billeted (Parklane) was a lot better compared to the hotel (Golden Peak) we checked in the first time we went there. We relished the dishes in the restos we dined in. Toots and I fell in love with the coffee caramel latte from dessert factory. I thought that the quesadillas in Zapatas here in Angeles City was the best until I tried the quesadilla in Moon Cafe' in Cebu.

We're happy to meet warm and accomodating people in our Cebu office. I'm certain Toots and I were able to serve our purpose in going there. We were productive all through out our stay and having the opportunity to present to our boss some reports related to our queue and our contributions to the success of the entire queue was considered an "Oh Shit Moment!", we gave our best and we were more than pleased with the result.

I'm thankful that my officemate Vic is around to help me out bring back my original free blogspot domain, so now I don't have to worry about paying for domain every year. I already thought of abandoning my blog completely but a part of me is saying to keep it, there are some moments or events in my life that I can bring back only through this online journal, so I decided to keep it for as long as blogspot is here to exist. I just have to inform some friends and fellowbloggers about the change in my blog address.

Now I can say, once a blogger, will always be a blogger.

Happy Kids

I'm fond of bringing my kid's to kiddie birthday parties, it's a perfect time for them to mingle with other people, develop their social skills in a fun and happy way.

CJ, my eldest, is always ready to participate in games and befriend all the kids. On the other hand, my little princess Acey is the shy and reserve type, she's more interested in the party food and loot bags (LOL).

For this month of July, we attended 2 birthday parties, the first one was held first week of July and the other one was last Saturday. The pictures taken on last Saturday's birthday party were not uploaded yet but here are the photos taken by an officemate and a fellow blogger CandidMom who I think is a promising great photographer.

Healthy Packed Lunch

I try my best to come up with a list of menu for a week for my kids baon in school. I try my best too, to avoid cooking canned goods or anything with preservatives such as tocino. I wake up as early as 4:30am to prepare my kids' breakfast and baon so might as well use the time cook dish rich in vitamins and nutrients.

Last Monday, I cooked Tofu in Oyster sauce I learned from Ms. Caren Yrastorza's blog. This is the main reason why I often visit food blogs. I compile easy to cook dishes that I think my kids would love to eat during their lunch break. I always remind my kids there is always time for everything, time to study, play and eat and it is important for them to take their break and savor the rice & viand I cooked for them with love to make them stay healthy and alert.

Today, I cooked home made chicken nuggets. I marinated chicken breast cut into cubes in oyster sauce, garlic and salt & pepper and deep fried it this morning. Sadly, it slipped my mind of taking a photo of it, I was understandably too busy preparing my kids for school.

Early Dinner with Friends

We decided to have an early dinner in New York Supreme after work yesterday. The last meal we had was lunch at work at 12 noon and we got out of the office at 4pm. We intentionally emptied our tummy's to fill it in with yummy panizza and various pasta from New York Supreme. It was my third time actually in NYS and I will go back again and again. I fell in love with their delectable and affordable menu. Because we were so hungry, everytime the waiter will serve the dish, it's gone in a snap!

I really had a great time dining with my friends at work, savoring the food with a lot of laughter and friendly love...it was HEAVEN! In between meals and before we head back to our respective homes, we took a lot of photos in and outside NYS, I'll share the photos of the dish we had for now. More pics in my next blog. Aside from sending hubby a heartfelt father's day message in Facebook, I wanted to make him feel it’s really a special day for him so I ordered a father's day cake for him (for my dad and brother as well) even if he can’t have a taste of it since he’s several miles away.

It was a pre ordered cake, I was undecided what design I like, I just told Annali (the cake maker) any design for as long as the phrase “Happy Father’s Day!” is written on it. I was delighted to see the design of the cake, simple and cute. The icing or the sugar paste is not too thick so you can tolerate the sweetness coming from the sugar and most of all, we love how super moist the cake was.

I also made mango sago dessert. I ‘ve been wanting to do this last summer while mango fruit is in season, perfect dessert on a humid day but I had a hard time looking for sago (Acey calls it baby sago). When finally I was able to buy sago and found the easiest cooking directions in google, I lost the momentum doing it.

While buying ingredients for the pasta I brought in my brother-in-laws despidida party last Saturday, I also bought readily peeled and sliced mangoes. I have ready ingredients so there was no excuse for me not to make mango dessert. My family enjoyed and loved it!

As you all know, my daughter Acey was one of the flower girls in my brother-in-law's wedding. I knew right away that the color motiff was pale purple & gray. I was thinking of using tiara on Acey's hair so she would look like a little bride and when the wedding march was being discussed, it was mentioned that Acey would actually be the little bride, with the task to hand over the bouquet of flowers to the bride. It was actually Acey's first time to be part of a wedding entourage, so imagine my excitement?

I recalled Ciara Sotto's wedding where some of the female guests and member of her entourage wore hat as hair accessory and I loved it! I knew it was Mich Dulce's idea because she was bestfriend of Ciara. Quickly, I wanted Acey to use hat instead of tiara. I remember telling my sister-in-law about this kikay idea and was surprised when she texted me she was able to buy Acey an empress hat in dark violet in Divi. She even posted the picture in facebook, all the more I got excited for Acey

The Wedding

June 08 was my brother in-law's wedding with his long time girlfriend Ria. Clark, the youngest among 6 male siblings (hubby is the second to youngest) finally tied the knot. I thought he's not gonna marry anymore after breaking up with his previous girlfriend for 8 years. Clark intentionally did not get marry early because he devoted his time taking care of their grandmother and my mom -in-law, who both passed away 4 years ago.

Time, money and effort were spent during the preparation, not to mention, stress was also experienced. I brought CJ and Acey to the place where gowns and barongs were rented month before the much awaited occasion for their measurements to allow the dressmaker finish the barong and gown on time. Despite that, we were only able to get the barong and gown a day before the wedding. Acey has to fit the gown 3 times before they can finally get the perfect measurement...stressful isn't it?

I am happy that the wedding was an enormous success. Everything was perfect from the wedding ceremony to the wedding reception. The audio visual presentations showing the old pictures of my in-laws with Clark when he was still a kid and the video message (which is my idea) from my hubby who's in Qatar suprised the groom and made him teary eyed.

I can assure the bride she's in good hands and Clark will be an ideal husband. I say this not because he's my brother-in-law but simply because I witnessed how loving he is as a son and brother, how considerate he is as a brother in-law and affectionate as uncle to his nephews and nieces.

I wish the newlywed happiness and more wonderful years together.

As promised, I'm making a post about the dinner I had with my college friends. My girlfriends are fond of Korean food, something I can eat also but can't trade with Italian and Mexican food. I went with them one time to have lunch in a Korean Resto around friendship, I enjoyed it but not as much I enjoy my favorite Italian & Mexican food.

I told Michelle how delicious and tempting the Mexican servings in Zapata's, Josielyn second the motion. Michelle who happened to be a food lover and "let me try all" person like me, got curious and really made sure to dine in Zapata's was part of her itinerary in going here last Saturday when she visited her OB Gyne for a repeat papsmear. Imagine she had to travel all the way from Bangued Abra just to try the quesadillas and fajitas from Zapata's.

The Enchiladas Norte is a new discovery. I ask the waitress what menu she can suggest, something she can consider one of their best sellers and quickly suggested the enchiladas norte. A strips of breast chicken fillet wrapped in a tortilla served with Mexi rice. It was "oh so good"...you bite it with closed eyes while you relish it! Perfect! I'm actually craving for it as I write this post...wheeew!

Reception at Abe's Farm Resort

Last weekend was a hectic schedule for me. I got home from work Saturday morning at around 7:30am, took a power nap and woke up at 9:00 am. My friends at work and I decided to attend the christening of our department manager's baby girl Samantha Sage on that day. Our meeting place was at Marquee Mall and I decided to be there an hour before our meeting time (11am) so I could spend it looking for a dress I could wear on my brother-in-law's wedding which is going to be next week, but I ended up buying Vidal Sasoon hair straightener.

Collyn came at exactly 11am followed by Mark. We bought a gift for the baby girl and while waiting for it to be wrapped, we did a pictorial in the next room where some of Marquee's furnitures are on display. We then headed to the reception at Abe's Farm Magalang. It took us more than 30 minutes to reach the destination. Some visitors were done eating while others just started coming in.

Even if I'm from Pampanga, I didn't know about Abe's Farm until I saw it on TV last March specifically in the show "Ang Pinaka" of QTV 11 where they featured different resorts around the Philippines. Abe's Farm is a private resort with only one big pool surrounded by different plants and trees. It's cottages are made of nipa hut. It has a resto that serves native food. I specially like the fern salad which reminded me of my late mother-in-law who used to prepare such with matching fried fish. The ube macapuno dessert is my ultimate favorite. The halaya ube does not contain ingredient to cheat the taste and it's authencity.

If you want to have peaceful vacation for any season or just a quiet time with your family or loved ones away from city noise, Abe's Farm is the perfect place to be.

We left the place almost 3pm. On the way home, I received a text from Josielyn telling me that our friend Michelle is coming for a doctor's appointment and she wanted to have dinner with us, wanna know here we ate?...well, that deserves another post. Stay tuned...LOL.

New York Supreme

It's food trip once again and this time its Italian.

New York Supreme is a newly opened restaurant in Angeles City located along the hi way. It serves pizza and pasta. I've been to this resto twice already. The first time was when I treated my friends for my birthday and the second time was last Friday with my friends at work. I fell in love with their Panizza accompanied with pesto sauce, alfalfa and arugula and Chicken Pasta Parmigiana, red sauced penne pasta topped with fried chicken breast fillet and creamy/cheesy sauce. Their red sauced pasta has Italian flavor rich in tomato sauce and tomato paste. Pinoys are fond of sweet style spaghetti and having to try real Italian Style pasta is a delight to my tastebud. What I like most about New York Supreme is their affordable pitcher of iced tea. My friends and I had 3 to 4 rounds of glass of iced tea.

Zapata's Mexican Resto

There are so many great restaurants in Friendship, Angeles City that caters to international customers. A lot of Americans, Australians and other nationalities are married to Filipinas and residing in Friendship and some of them have established businesses in Clarkfield Pampanga. Truly, there's no place like Philippines.

C Italian is being visited by celebrities because of its famous and unparralled Panizza. The chef/owner guested in "Secrets of the Masters" of QTV 11. Rumpa and VMW is usually housed by retired Americans & Australians, they offer steaks and various American foods and the servings is usually good for two (meant for a foreign customer with big bellys...LOL).

My friends at work had the chance to dine in Zapata's 2 weeks ago or so. This mexican restaurant was featured in WMN website and the controversial actress and host Kris Aquino raved about their quesadillas. It was my first time to dine in Zapata's and the ambiance inside was great...big and tidy. It will instantly make you feel you're in Mexico.

Our appetizer was quesadillas. This is my favorite among the 3 dishes we ordered. I love the simple taste and you can hardly guess what type of cheese they use. We finished this dish in a snap!

Fajitas was served next. It consists of chicken stips, grilled peppers and mexi rice matched with salsa and sour cream. It's up to you how much rice & chicken you put in the tortilla.

Finally, we had tacos with soft shell. It was okay but the taste of the cheese was too mild for me. I love anything with cheese...mozarella, parmesan, cheddar etc.

I love their refreshing cold iced tea.

A Year Older

I turned a year older last May 16. I am overwhelmed with the birthday greetings and wishes I received from family, friends and acquaintances through facebook and SMS. There was no party but I fulfilled my promise to my kids to bring them in a nearby resort for a night swimming. My friends have been inviting me to resorts within the city, they also organized an outing in Abra where one of my friends and her family are currently residing and try Pagudpud beach but I politely declined. We will be attending my brother in law's wedding on June 08 and my daughter Acey will act as one of the flower girls and I do not want her complexion to darken because of swimming and most importantly, I can't allow my kids stay in the water under the scorching heat of the sun even if there are various sunblocks available with higher SPF. I believe dermatologists when they say that direct exposure in the sun can cause harmful effects. Two hours of night swimming is already enough for my kids. It made their summer complete!

When I woke up on Sunday morning last week, my daughter Acey immediately greeted me "Happy Mother's day", my son CJ did the same. Such gesture instantly put a smile on my face and made me realize it's a special day for moms.

We didn't have celebration but we attended a birthday party and they enjoyed it immensely because of the games, magic show and lootbags they got as giveaways and prizes for winning in the games.

Aside from malling with my kids, CJ and Acey, having a moment with friends is something I always look forward to. Simply dine in a familiar or new restos and a lot of chitchat makes the bonding complete. I have different set of friends....from work...friends since college and when I get the chance find a long lost friend through social networking, I grab the opportunity to get in touch with them, eat out and catch up.

Yes, I am a working mom, I'm raising two kids alone because hubby is am OFW for several years now, but I make it a point I still have time for myself and go out with friends. I always tell my kids, there is always time for everything and I pity other people especially working moms and acquaintances who can not afford to spare 2 to 3 hours of their time to enjoy and chillax.

My college friends and I committed to have regular bonding moments and still do such even if we're senior citizens.

Life is short, make it complete and live it to the fullest. It's a matter of time management and it's a matter of choice.

Circumcision

My eldest son CJ got circumcised a little pass 12 noon today. It was only me who accompanied him. According to Wikipedia, Male circumcision is the removal of some or all of the foreskin (prepuce) from the penis.^[1] The word "circumcision" comes from Latin circum (meaning "around") and cædere (meaning "to cut").

CJ wasn't prepared to be circumcised last year so I waited for this summer to come and this time he was ready (thank God). I guess what made him decide to undergo circumcision is the fact the most of his cousins and playmates, same as his age were already circumcised. Also, I told him, it will make him grow taller because he's nearing puberty stage.

We were at the doctor's clinic at 10am. There were already 3 boys for circumcision before CJ. I noticed my son got a little tense and walks around the hospital to overcome it. He even played to a baby in the other clinic. The three boys came out of the clinic smiling and I assured my son it wasn't really painful, the only thing he must surpass is the injection containing the anesthesia so he won't feel any pain 100%. Other patients on the waiting line helped me give some encouraging words to CJ (they were really angels).

It's CJs turn, his name was called and I greeted the doctor with full smile as soon as we entered the room. My son lied on the bed and started getting nervous because he knew the anesthesia is going to be painful, he's really scared of needles. He yelled when Dr. Dungca started inserting the needle in the excess skin of his penis but there's no way of backing out. As soon as the anesthesia was in effect, CJ turned in a relaxing mood and just covered his face with a towel and waited for the procedure to finish. I bravely watch everything till the end and I held his hand all throughout. I want my son to feel my support. Everything was done in 15 minutes.

We're now home. CJ took the anti biotic and pain reliever at 1pm. I'm going to clean & apply ointment in the circumcised part of his genital and we'll back in the clinic next Monday for the removal of the thread.

Graduation

My daughter Acey graduated from preparatory level last March 29 with high honor from Achievers School. She is a consistent honor student that's why we are so proud of her. Her dad wasn't able come home to witness the graduation because he planned to spend his vacation with us several weeks from now to catch up on his kids. We can't wait!

On the other hand, my son CJ passed as fourth grader student. He doesn't need to enrol in summer class which doubled my happiness. Last Easter Sunday, me and my kids went to attend Sunday mass in the morning and proceeded in SM Clark afterwards because I promised Acey a dollhouse and Ben10 collectible for CJ. It's their prize for being good students and children as well. We then ate lunch in KFC. We had a simple but wonderful Easter Sunday!

A Way to Gain Beauty Stuff

I'm crazy about two things and thats baking and make up. I made a blogroll about food and baking and I guess I should also make one for beauty and fashion.

I blogged about the coastal scents and Fashion 21 eye pallete I bought recently. I'm enjoying using the coastal scents pallette. There is a variety of eye make up color I can choose. I used different shades of green eye color to match the polo shirt I wear in last night's duty. Most of the time I use neutral colors and apply the make up techniques I learned from Michelle Phan and Exteeener whom I always watch via youtube. Just this week, I ordered Avon's mineral poweder foundation and I'm loving it!

In as much as I want to buy more make up and used different products for comparison purposes, I have other priorites. Make-up are pricey especially those branded ones. Blueberry Cheesecake

Here is the no bake blueberry cheesecake I made last March 08 which happens to be my hubby's birthday. I wasn't able to take a picture of the whole cheesecake because the digicam wasn't available after I made it. I brought around two slices in the office to share it with friends and they loved it.

Eye Make Up

I am so happy that I finally got the coastal scent 78 pallette make up I've been wanting to have. My officemate Collyn is placing an order for a coastal scent 88 pallette from a trusted seller in multiply account, I ask her to order for me so we can save from the shipping cost and she gladly agreed.

I recently bought Fashion 21 48 pallette eyeblush in SM. I sometimes use it when going to work and I noticed the color doesn't last, not sure if it is because I'm not applying eye primer before putting the make up on. It was actually on sale which is why I bought it but I plan to keep and use it still.

I started loving make up when I discovered Michelle Phan and Xteener and watch their video tutorials via YouTube every week. To have a Mac make up (eyeblush quad will do) and a complete set of make up brush is on top of my wishlists for this year.

Miss You Like Crazy

My daughter Acey and I have watch the film "Miss You Like Crazy" yesterday in Robinson. All I can say is that John Lloyd & Bea Alonzo are perfect partners on screen. I like the fact they did not have a second thought to portray mature roles this time. Yes, there were kissing scenes but was done in good taste. It's so obvious in the said movie that both have given their best in their acting and have met the expectation of the great director Cathy Garcia Molina, needless to say, I'm a huge fan of direct Cathy. I have watch 90% of the movies she directed.

It's still weekend and if you're not busy, I highly recommend you watch "Miss You Like Crazy", it's time to feel in love even if it is only by watching this film.

Touching Valentine Message

Even if hubby and I have not celebrated Valentines Day for the past years, I can still claim that my Valentine every year is complete with the presence of my kids. I treasure the valentine cards I received from my kids.

Acey made a Valentine card days before Valentines day. She drew in the card a woman too focus watching TV as if she doesn't care whatever is happening in her surroundings. Admittedly, that's how I am especially during weekends. Watching my favorite shows is what I love doing and my kids know that very well.

On the other hand, CJ made a huge valentine card which was actually a project in their school and this is the actual message written on the card...

Dear mom and dad,

This is your son CJ. Mom, I want to say that you have the same attitude as the Maiasaurus which its name means good carrying mother like in the Dinosaur King show in episode 6 & 13. In episode 6 the Maiasaurus did anything to protect its egg and in episode 13, the acrocontosaurus did anything to go to the volcano and the island to protect the fossils of its mate and son and for dad, he is like a deinonychus which its name means terrible claw and the deinonychus work hard to find food. Like dad he work hard to give us money and transport the money to us.

My son is engrossed with Dinosaurs. He always watch dinosaur films and shows via youtube and when he does, all the dinosaurs figures are scattered on the computer table.

I was elated after receiving those cards that I decided to do a quick visit at Marquee Mall and bought my kids valentine gift...luckily different Baby G watches were on sale.

Kids know things that can make you happy. Kids know how to express their love in very unique and innocent way.

Buffalo Chicken

Here's what I made last Sunday for my family for dinner, Buffalo Chicken. I got the recipe from the website of my favorite chef Aileen Anastacio. I didn't know it was this easy. My kids preferred gravy for dipping, good thing I kept the chicken stock in the fridge when I made chicken sandwich a week ago.

Ingredients:

10 Chicken wings

COATING:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
10 chicken wings

Coat wings and fry for 10 to 15 minutes, or until parts golden brown. Remove from heat and immediately coat wings with the hot sauce mixture.

HOT SAUCE
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup hot sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Combine the butter, hot sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir together and heat until butter is melted and mixture is well blended. Remove from heat and reserve for serving.

GRAVY
1/4 cup butter
1 tablespoon flour
1 cup chicken stock

Heat butter, then add the flour, mix together, pour chicken stock. Turn off the fire when mixture thickens.

When CJ & Acey showed me the paper from their school to notify parents about the fieldtrip, I told them we will just join next year but my daughter Acey begged because she haven't been to Enchanted Kingdom. On the second thought, I realized kids deserve a break from the third periodical exam, so I gave in. My sister in law and her kids joined too which made the fieldtrip more exciting.

There were 13 buses, approximately 650 students, teachers & parents joined the filedtrip last January 30, 2010. Assembly started as early as 4am. We were at bus # 3 and each bus has a tour guide, ours was Kuya Owel, funny and gay...lol.

First stop was the Sumo Sumo production area. Kids were ask to sit down, hands up and wave, afterwards, they showed in the monitor the finish product. Kids were flying like superheroes. The next room was the dubbing area. A teacher and a parent were ask to read the scripts or dialogue with feelings of an anime film.

We proceeded to watch the Davao Crocodile Show. It's not only crocodiles that we got to see. CJ & Acey were able to touch an albino and shake hands with a monkey. I didn't get to see other animals because I went to a shaded area. I'm not fond of zoo and animals. I just go there during fieldtrips and for the kids.

We rode the Pasig River ferry cruise. Kudos to the people working to make the Pasig River clean ang pleasing to the eyes. Students, parents and teachers were educated about history of the said river. We passed by the different bridges and saw the back of Malacanang Palace while on cruise. Let's participate in the "Piso para sa Pasig" project by giving a peso or more.

Before going to Enchanted Kingdom, we were given an hour to take our lunch in Mall of Asia. My sister and I would like to try the dishes from any resto in MOA but the kids insisted that we just eat in KFC. I wanted to try yogurt ice cream and crepes too but my tummy is saying otherwise.

The highlight of the fieldtrip was going to Enchanted Kingdom that was unbelievably jampacked. You have to fall in line for more than an hour to be able to enjoy a ride. We decided to just watch a 30 minute magic show. We paid 50 pesos for the Simon & Silver magic show. Oh boy, it was mesmerizing and entertaining and I must say it's the cheapest yet amazing magic show I've ever seen in my entire life.

We all enjoyed the fieltrip immensely. We got home at 11pm.

I bought myself a Tommy Hilfiger bag and wallet. A friend of my officemate arrived 3 weeks ago from her US tour and brought home 4 to 5 boxes of US stuff to sell and I took the Tommyhilfiger bag & wallet. I have to say thank you and goodbye to the Ralph Lauren bag I've been using for a year now. The Tommyhilfiger bag and wallet serve as my christmas gift for myself. Better late than never, right?

I have always wanted to blog 'coz I feel there's a lot of things happened I want to impart like how we celebrated the recent Yuletide seasons, the Christmas gift I bought for my kids and for myself, family reunions we had and etc.I guess it's never too late to write them here so now I'm starting to blog again and this is my very first post for 2010 and I want it to be something delightful.

Me and two of my officemates participated in the QTV 11 "Love to Watch, Love to Bid" promo giving away big time prizes such as trip for 4 to hongkong, laptop, gym equipment, spa treatment for 12 months and a lot more. This was in the last quarter of 2009. We made a joint effort logging in to WMN website to earn points, unfortunately, we did not win any of the prizes. We accumulated more than a million points at the end of the contest period and we were surprised to know that other participants earned as much as 10 million points...unbelievable yet amazing.

After this particular contest, WMN promised to come up with a lot of promo to give chances to unlucky "Love to Watch, Love to Bid" participants and so they did. One of them was for mommies to send their pictures with their kids and write about their tips for looking and staying young, this is specifically a contest of the show "Full time Moms" hosted by Christine Jacob Sandejas and Suzi Antrata. Winner will receive one year's worth of Tri-Aktiline. Yours truly participated and the tips I shared was chosen by Full Time Moms staff & judges. I received my prize few days before Christmas 2009.

Below are tips I shared for looking and staying young:

1. Spend time alone. Go to the mall and visit boutiques or stores and check on the new dress or bag and buy it for yourself as a reward for fulfilling your duty/ies as a full time mom consistently. You can not possibly do this if you tag along your kids whenever you go to the mall. This can be done while kids are at school.

2. Pamper Yourself. Regularly go to a spa for a relaxing body or foot massage. You may also visit your favorite salon for a hair treatment. It is not a sin to spend money earned by your hubby for some pampering.

3. Invest in beauty products. Your skin is never the same when you are young and now that you are in your 30’s. Good thing there are many available beauty products such as moisturizing creams, toner or clarifying lotion in the market. Some maybe expensive and some are affordable. It is a matter of choosing the product that will work well with your skin.

4. Mingle with friends. Go out or dine out with friends. Never stop seeing friends just because you have kids to take care of, never use that as an excuse. Everything is possible with time management. In fact, you should look forward to attending class reunion or bond with good old friends.

5. Never stop learning. Surf the net to learn new recipes and be updated with current events. Watch make up tutorials online that you can apply when you attend weddings or your kids’ graduation. There’s so much to learn right at your fingertips.

6. Pray and meditate. Have a peaceful and quiet time with Him because only God will understand what’s going on your mind. He knows if you need help or if you just want to thank Him for your inner happiness.

Our sexy and pretty friend, Toots, treated us with a sumptuous dinner at Xtremely Expresso last November 26 as she celebrated her birthday last November 28. We had the resto's ever famous pizza, Big Ben, the fall-off-the-bones and very delicious Baby Back ribs, Seafoods Nut-Pesto, Ceasar Salad, and Turkey sandwich. Binge-eating is the right term since we ate like there was no tomorrow. Everybody had a great time. After relishing a sumptous dinner at Extremely Expresso we ordered coffee in Starbucks right across the said resto.

Family Bonding at Marquee Mall

As promised, I brought my kids to Marquee Mall last Sunday afternoon (Nov. 29). First, we went to the toy section of Metro Department Store, then to Toys R Us so my kids will give me an idea what xmas gift they want, but Acey got confused at first, she can't decide which Christmas toy gift she really prefers so I helped her decide and stick with Disney Princesses dolls and it should be the three of them...Snowhite, Cinderella & Sleeping Beauty. While CJ is choosing between Ben10 action figures preferably Big Chill and Dinosaurs collectible items and it's name should start with letter A (that's how specific my son is). So now I know what, which and where to buy those gifts. I treated them to McDonals afterwards, coke float is their forever favorite. We dropped by at the supermarket while waiting for the chicken McDo & coke float to digest and the most fun part for my kids is letting them play in the play area. Seeing them having a blast is truly my heart's happiness!

MarQuee Mall

I went to Marquee Mall yesterday, the newest mall in Angeles City, this belongs to the Ayalas. I was alone and I was curious if the architectural design and the stores are similar to the one in Ayala Cebu. I was glad with what I saw and I was happier to see StarMagic talents in the activity area led by Tayong Dalawa lead stars Gerald Anderson, Kim Chiu and Jake Cuenca. I have watch Kapuso stars in Robinsons in Balibago Angeles City before and I can say that StarMagic talents are far better than Kapuso stars in terms hosting, entertaining people & talent. I was amazed to see the production numbers that they prepared for the fans, the same prod numbers they do in ASAP show. The number of hours you have to wait standing is all worth it.

It's been over a month since my last update here in my blog. I was on hiatus temporarily because I got busy participating in the "Love to Watch, Love to Bid" promo of QTV 11 and I didn't win, I can hear spoiled brat Angelina shouting "Such a Loser!!!" right in my face. But that’s fine, more freebies are up for grabs in the QTV promo in the coming months.

I visit other blogs once in a while, especially food blogs. You know how much I love to learn new recipes. Everyday, I ‘m tuned in to Quickfire & My Favorite Recipes before I help my mom prepare dinner. Proud to say I’m able to execute some of the recipes, in fact, I made chicken waldorf salad & potato skin during my son’s recent birthday celebration and my in laws were impressed. I wanna try making Mango Custard cake and Bread Budding one of these days.

Aside from the QTV contest , learning new recipes & being a TV addict, I’m also busy being a mom and a QA Analysts. I realized I missed so many opps, so now I’m back to blogging and that’s a promise.

My son CJ turned 10 years old last August 09 which happens to be Sunday, family day. CJ accompanied me in Robinson's supermarket on Saturday to buy ingredients and treated him in Jollibee. He craved for jolly chicken & spaghetti. When I woke up Sunday morning, I suddenly saw the face of my son with the sweetest smile I've ever seen in my entire life, I greeted and kissed him. Then we went to church and again to Robinson's Supermarket to complete the ingredients.

The Birthday Boy

I decided to cook birthday food such as spaghetti, cheese lumpia and my new recipes chicken waldorf salad I've been wanting to copy from the blog I frequently visit plus potato skin which I got the idea from Subdelicious pizza house and blogger Connie. My mom bought the birthday cake and cooked chicken.

Baby Nicole

Yesterday, my niece Nicole turned one. If you remember, I took care of baby Nicole when her mom (my youngest sister) left the country for Qatar with a heavy heart because she has to leave baby Nicole temporarily. I was Nicole’s mom for the entire time she was here while her parents were trying to complete the necessary documents for her Visa. Last January Nicole’s dad came home to fetch her and they flew to Qatar the next month. We miss her so much but I am truly happy knowing the fact she’s in the loving arms of her own and real mom. Now she is one year old and her birthday party was held yesterday in a restaurant in Qatar.

Happy birthday baby Nicole. We miss you. See you next year:)

We had our teambuilding last Friday (July 10) and spent a whole day in Zoobic Safari in Subic. When our team leaders was organizing it, I didn't feel any excitement because I've been to a couple of zoo everytime I accompany my kids in their educational trip. I thought I won't enjoy the teambuilding but I was completely wrong.

Assembly time was at 6am and exactly after an hour the team is complete and off we went to the destination. The travel is for an hour instead of 30 to 45 minutes. We took the SCTex way (Subic Clark Tarlac expressway), the bus is second class and it's a bit slow.

The Safari tour package that our company chose for us included our lunch and entrance fee. We did not enjoy the food in Safari Grill. If you plan to go to Zoobic Safari, I suggest that you go there with full stomach and have lunch or snack outside after the tour.

The best part is the drive thru and close encounters with the tigers wherein humans are inside the cage while tigers would come near you to grab fresh chicken that you can buy inside the zoo. Also, riding the choo choo train and pass in the territory of long necked ostrich.

After the tour, we had lunch in Safari grill, then played Pinoy Henyo and Amazing Race. We were all dead tired and hungry after the games.

This was another memorable teambuilding and teambonding, it was tiring but we all enjoyed it immensely.

Or company is under a different management for more than two years now, since then, there were changes in the benefit and compensation package, honestly and admittedly, the previous management is a lot better than the current one in terms of benefits, compensation & trainings. Every quarter, as employees, we are requested to fill out the Employee Satisfaction Survey so the management would know how & where to improve.

Everytime I do the survey, I always say not to change our current health insurance started by the previous management. I am happy and contented with the comprehensive health coverage we are getting from the health insurance we have now. Believe it or not, some employees decided to stay in the company just because of the health insurance being provided by the company because our family or dependents are also covered. If your spouse or one of your kids get sick, you immediately bring them to the doctor or nearest hospital without having to worry of paying the hospital bills, furthermore, medicines amounting to a maximum of five thousand pesos is also part of the package even if it is just out patient.

A couple of months from now, our health insurance coverage will expire and I’m hoping the management will decide to renew the contract on the same health insurance company, otherwise, they should devote time in the health insurance plan selection & comparison process to make a wise decision.

I tried to cook putu't bibingka 2 Sundays ago using White King puto & bibingka mix I bought in my favorite supermarket. The puto was done perfectly but the bibingka was overcooked because I run out of foil that should be used as top cover of the bibingka. Nevertheless, the whole family ate everything in seconds.

I was so happy to find out this week that this blog reached a Page Rank 2. I've work so hard to maintain and update this blog on a regular basis. I bloghop and made friends. I make it a point to reply to the comments of those bloggers who visit my blog, I continue to exchange links with other bloggers and by doing so, my pagerank and Alexa increased giving me the opportunity to earn through the opps I receive everyday.

Imagine my surprise to see my page rank go back to ZERO this morning!? Unbelievable!!! Truly appalling!!!So many questions popped up in my mind...what went wrong? what could have happened? is it because it's the start of the month that's why my page rank will have to start to zero? Will Google be able to answer my questions if I try to get in touch with them? Can they bring back my PR2?

Probably my fellow bloggers can shed light on this issue. Do you guys know the answer/s?

Be Intentional

Times have changed since most families had two parents, a mom who stayed home and a Dad who worked nine to five. Families today are more complex. Single parents, dual-income families, a bajillion after-school activities, and in-house distractions like computers, Play Stations®, and the like mean that time together as a family isn't going to just happen. You have to make it happen.

Plan time together and insist the kids attend. This might make you unpopular at times. But think about your favorite childhood memories and you'll realize that most of them center around time spent with your family. Be committed to making family time a priority. Then, be creative about making it happen.

Quality and Quantity

When kids are asked the question, "What makes a happy family?" the response is almost unanimous, "Spending time together." According to experts, the myth that a large quantity of time can be replaced by less-frequent "quality" time just isn't true. Karen Dockrey, author of Bold Parents, Positive Teens (Waterbrook) puts it this way, "Daily time is irreplaceable. Five minutes every day is better than five hours on Saturday or a big family trip. The bigger chunks of time are only effective if there's already a relationship as a result of daily time together."

It's up to you to discover when that time works best for your family. Maybe it's at breakfast, on the drive to school, or just before bed, when things slow down a bit.

Eat Together

Okay, dinner seven nights a week isn't practical for most of us. But university researchers at Penn State, Harvard, and Depaul agree that children who grow up in a home where parents and kids sit down to eat together three or four times a week are less likely to experiment with drugs and alcohol and less likely to engage in premarital sex. They even found a correlation between family meals and success in school.

Meals are a time to share your day, to plan family outings, to air any beefs that crop up during the week. But be careful to keep things fun and light. Don't use meal time as a chance to reprimand the kids or harp on table manners while you have a captive audience. Keep distractions like TV or telephones to a minimum. In fact, it's a good idea to place a moratorium on all electronics until the meal is over.

Pray Together

In Matthew 18:20, Jesus promises, "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." I think this goes double for families. At least I know that some of the most powerful answers to prayers in my life have come after I've knelt with my husband and kids and prayed together. More than a quick blessing before meals, prayer time can be a time to connect with each other's hearts and see what's really important and weighing on each other's minds. Pray on your way to school in the morning or before bed at night. Keep a prayer calendar where you can keep track of special prayer requests and concerns. Be sure to praise together when the answers are given.

One-on-One Time

Before we had kids of our own, my husband and I took careful note of the way my sister and her husband raised their five children. One thing they did that we promised we'd continue is one-on-one time, each parent with each child. Now that we have four kids of our own, they'll tell you that some of their best memories are of a day at the zoo with Dad or an afternoon wandering through antique shops with Mom.

Getting a child alone, away from the natural competition that comes from siblings, relaxes something within him. You'll be amazed how well you'll get to know this burgeoning young person when it's just the two of you for an entire day.

Don't Compete with Electronics

Instead of allowing TVs, DVDs, and computers to take away from family time, try using them to enhance it. Rent a family movie and sit down to watch it together. I've started collecting DVDs of my favorite childhood TV shows and share them with the kids. Gilligan's Island is a favorite. Find an Xbox® game you and your kids enjoy and hold a family tournament. With new advances in home entertainment technology every day, how can a parent hope to compete for their family's attention? You don't have to. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

My friend Pao started her sideline as real estate broker last year and I am amazed at the amount of commissions she earned and continue to earn. Friday Sickness

The moment my eldest CJ set foot at our house gate last Friday when he got home from school, he told me “Mama, I’m not feeling well”. I noticed his husky voice in the morning of that same day while preparing for school and I knew it will lead to colds & fever. I helped him change his clothes and I ask him to rest while I prepare his dinner. After eating, he took the needed medicines, Dimetapp and Dolan for his colds and fever respectively. I gave him a relaxing massage using lavender oil I bought in Robinson supermarket months ago. Funny thing is, my kids would sometimes pretend to be not feeling well just so they can avail of my relaxing massage service…hehehe. They love the soothing feeling after a massage from me.

With the AH1N1 pandemic, I get paranoid whenever my kids get sick even with the slightest fever although I knew that it was because of the rains that happened in the past days. I brought CJ to his pedia the next day and he prescribed ventolin expectorant in addition to the medicines he is already taking because CJ started to have dry cough and also to help avoid bronchitis from developing.

I’ve been blogging about my goal to have my house painted after rainy season or before the year ends. I’ve also been visiting websites about home & style & reading home magazines to get an idea of what paint color I want for every area of the house. I noticed what’s in nowadays are pastel colors paint. I prefer our master bedroom to be dominantly beige in color with a little touch of brown color in it to achieve a zen & neat look. I’m still confused what color I like in my kids’ room and the living room as well. In fact, I have cut outs of areas of the house with paints that I want to copy.

I’ll ask my brother to help me find a skilled painter to do the house painting. Of course, I do not want my money to be wasted, my husband’s approval and satisfaction is one of my considerations too. Neighbors & acquaintances volunteered to do the job but I won’t take the risk. I want an experienced & knowledgeable painter. Before I went home from work this morning at around 6am, I learned that Michael Jackson, the King of Pop died of cardiac arrest through the AOL Welcome screen. It was actually Pao who learned the shocking news. She was reading about the passing of Farrah Fawcet and the headline was changed to the death of Michael Jackson.

Jacko's personal & career life has been controversial. He was also involved in scandals like child molestation but nobody's perfect afterall. I think Michael Jackson deserves our love & respect for making so many people happy with his songs, energetic & awsome performances not to mention his incomparable contributions to the music industry.

Thank you and Goodbye Jacko. Your music will forever be remembered.

For Arts Sake

My kids are aware that I hate to draw, can't even draw an apple image, worst, even I can't appreciate my own drawing which is why when I need to help my daughter with her assignment and it requires me to draw, oh boy, it feels like forever to finish the assignment. No wonder why Acey is not fond of drawings too. My eldest CJ, can not draw what is being ask in his assigment like " a kid keeping the room clean" or "a kid praying before bedtime'" but he is good at drawing anime and superheroes, maybe because it is something he enjoys watching.

I can dance, I can act but I must admit I do not have talent in fine arts although I can appreciate paintings or drawings in canvass or any framed artwork like the Victoria Montesinos. I also look forward of having the opportunity to attend art gallery exhibits. I love to see flowers framed art work hanged in our living room while I prefer wall decals in our bedrooms. When we were still living in an apartment, I bought a few frames and my helper then observed and asked me why all the drawings in the frame I bought are all flowers and I actually do not know the answer. So now that I have my own house and when I have the budget to have it painted, I will buy frames that will complement the color of the paint and it doesn't have to be flower drawings this time.
