No to Unwanted Mails

In this age of computer and internet, we can easily get in touch with family, friends and relatives via email or chat. Gone are the days when you write someone dear to you a letter and send it via snail mail and the recipient will have to wait for several days to get a hold of that letter. Computer and internet will help you write a message to your loved ones and have it delivered as soon as you click on the send button.

The disadvantage of high technology is, it's so easy for someone or an organization to get your information and as a result you experience getting unwanted emails in your mailbox, not only that, you also get unwanted mails and catalogs in your physical mailbox.

Once in a while, I get calls from a marketer for some sales pitch usually from phone companies that offers a phone line, internet service and a mobile unit as one package. I’ll be straightforward and tell the representative I am not interested but because he was trained to do hard pitch, he will make several attempts until he can sense I am already annoyed and will hung up anytime. To avoid this from happening, I stumbled upon Catalog Choice that will help get rid of unwanted mails, they can also work on unlisting your name from phonebooks to stop receiving unwanted mails from your physical mailbox. This is simply awesome!

Web Directories

The main reason why I engage in blogging is to generate extra income. I envy my officemates earning extra bucks doing article writing, however, since I do not have much time I can dedicate in article writing, I tried to discover another means of augmenting my income and there I found out about paid blogging. I signed up with blogspot and started posting everyday, met a lot of people and made friends. I also signed up with different blogging directories. However, I noticed no matter how updated I am with my blog, still, I seldom receive projects or opps and this is quite frustrating.

There are bloggers who would unselfishly share tips on how you can optimize your page rank which is one factor in order for you to get projects or opps and earn. It is suggested you visit other blogs or websites and exchange links with them, another and the best way is to submit your blog or website in web directories. Fortunately, you don’t have to shell out some cash just to sign up with web directories because there are free web directories you can find in the internet, it’s a matter of choosing the best web directories even if it is for free.

I chanced upon Jasmine Directory, a powerful and efficient business web directory. Submitting your blog or website in web directories is an effective mechanism to reach the widest range of visitors possible. At Jasmine Directory each link is thoroughly researched and must adhere to a strict and demanding criteria of information fluency and currency. Information and topics are well organized through categories for easy and faster access.

Please note there are also commonly used web directories you can register to, one example of which is Yahoo directory and business.com.

You may not know the advantage and usefulness of registering your website to web directories until you try it yourself.

Beware of Sex Offenders

Todays technology such as computer & internet is such a huge help to everyone. It makes life easy. However, no one & nothing is perfect. Recently, the Hayden Sex Video scandal is all over the internet and it has put local actress Katrina Halili and other girls in the limelight in a shameful and negative way. Now the issue is in the court and it still uncertain if justice will be achieved on the part of Katrina Halili if it was said there has been no law or bills submitted in the congress with regard to this issue.

Even in chats and blogs, there are insane people who will leave you with sex offending messages meant to destruct or annoy you. Fortunately, sex offender report website was created and available to protect anyone and everyone especially our kids. It aims to keep us safe from sex offenders who might be living next to our door.

Digg to discover more

Today's modern technology allow people to discover so many things such as movies, games, places, food etc. One day I checked my mailbox and was quiet surprise with an email confirming the registration of my kids in an online game. I told my kids to use the internet to reaserch about their assignment in school.

The value of internet is making our life easier. Just like what I have mentioned above, you can further research about the assignment of your kids. In my case, I look for recipes online especially when I expect friends or relatives planning to come over to our house. Most importantly, constant communication with my hubby who works abroad.

And my latest discovery in the world of internet is Digg, it is a place for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web. Everything is on Digg, from news to videos to images and I can become a contributor in their community too plus I get the chance to discuss the topics I am passionate about with other members of the community. Also available in Digg is voip service

I have to go for now to digg about the latest in Hayden Kho's video scandal.

Amazing benefits of Direct TV

I’m a TV person and every Sunday I’m glued on my favorite show ASAP’09. But there are times I get bored with the said program especially when it’s replay and I realized it is better if I am subscribed to direct tv. Direct TV uses the most advanced satellite technology with over 265 channels to choose from and more than 130 national channels in brilliant high definition. As a working mom, I deserve to relax and get entertained especially on my days off and I guess this is one of the objective of Directtv to it’s consumers which is why they came up with various programming packages that would mean big savings!

BusinessCom, the best Satellite Internet Provider

When I was in primary level at grade 2 to be specific, my father worked abroad and the only means of communication at that time was through voice tape and snail mail and it takes a week or less before the voice tape or the mail reaches my father.

Now my husband is in Qatar and I am thankful with the technology that we have now. We can talk & see him at the same time through voice chat. We have constant communication and the kids doesn’t feel that their Dad is miles away. However, there are times that our internet provider doesn’t work for reasons I don’t know and it’s such a hassle to contact the customer service and complain about the unexpected disconnection and worst, this happens despite paying on time.

I remember my uncle telling me about satellite dish, something becoming famous in other countries. By just having satellite dish installed on your roof, you will have access to cables and internet without paying monthly.

Speaking of satellite internet, Businesscom is a leading global Satellite Internet provider with a vision & mission to continue improving in providing satellite internet and hire manpower with enough skills and expertise in the field of satellite internet connection. Moreover, Businesscom is committed to bring its incomparable service all over the world like South Africa and Middle East to where my husband is currently assigned.

Signing up with Paying Post

Every night you hear in the news companies closing down, retrenching employees and this all because of global crisis. This is scary and depressing at the same time especially if you are currently employed and the company you are working for is in the verge of closing down. Recently, Intel and Panasonic factories located in Cavite Philippines confirmed they will stop operating which means thousands of Filipinos will become jobless at the start of 2009.

I work for a call center and as early as now I’m contemplating on what to do just in case I’m one of those who will be on forced leave or worst be retrenched by our company. I’m the type of a person who always look at the brighter side of things no matter how obnoxious the situation is. However, I am also realistic and one of my plans of action is to resort to homebased jobs and concentrate on blog advertising. I like the thought of working in the comfort of my home.

I’ve been blogging for over a year now and have earned a few bucks from paid blogging, however, I seldom receive opps and I envy those bloggers whose blog is filled with paid posts. Admittedly, I inconsistently update my blog especially when busy with my regular job, but now, I am determined to focus on my blog, as a matter fact, I have just registered with Paying Post to earn extra income.

I discovered Paying Post from fellow bloggers. Signing up with Paying Post is definitely free. All you have to do is visit www. PayingPost.com then click on the Blogger option and fill up the application form online. You maybe assured after 24 hours you will be notified through email of the status of your application. Once approved, the first thing that you do is to add your blog and install the code, this is important because failing to do so, would mean no opportunites to write and no extra income.

Becoming a Paying Post member brings a lot of benefits to bloggers. It lets you write your opinion on products and services from advertisers, it enhances your writing skills and predominantly gives you extra income you needed especially in this time of crisis.

ICE - 'In Case of Emergency'

Apparently this is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone.

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell(mobile) phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE'.

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our mobile phones today! It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

Sample Floor Plan

My parents house is currently under construction on a 300 square meter lot. My father have alotted a space for me where I can build my own house. Currently, my kids and I are living in a small apartment, so my ultimate goal is to be able to build a house I can call my own.

While waiting for my parent's house to finish, my hubby instructed me to hire an engineer or architect to do our house or floor plan for him to see, it is a must that we both agree on it. Fortunately, I have friends who offered to give me their service for free. Whenever I'm not doing anything, I would grab a pen & paper and try to draw floor plan so it's easier for me to present my preferences to anyone who might do the real floor plan. Admittedly, drawing is my greatest challenge. So I end up tearing my own drawing and throw it to the trash bin. I envy people who are gifted in art and can draw something wonderful effortlessly.

But there's no reason to fret because with blogging, I'm making great discoveries. I learned about SmartDraw from fellow blogger Heidi. SmartDraw is such an amazing tool to use to draw house/floor plans. You don't have to be a professional artist, architect or engineer to be able to put into drawing the house/floor plan you visualize using SmartDraw. It took me less than 30 minutes to download and I have 8 days free trial to enjoy it. Last night, I got glued in front of the computer trying to finish the floor plan and I did.

Hubby and I prefer a 2 storey house with 3 bedrooms (a masterbedroom and 1 room each for CJ & Acey), however, we are considering the budget that we have which is why I've done 1 storey floor plan first and I'll finish the 2 storey tonight, as soon as I'm done, I'll send them to hubby via email at the same time, present it to the architect for estimate.

Here's a sample:

I enjoyed using SmartDraw immensely. Thanks to my fellow blogger Heidi and to the internet.

Simply Amazing

Yesterday, my kids and I went to SM Clark not because of the mall wide sale but to apply for Smart Broadband service. We were at the SMART service center at exactly 12nn, I filled up the application form and paid php999.00 at the cashier and since I don’t enjoy bumping into a lot of people due to mall wide sale while I have kids to look out, I decided that we go to Robinson Mall in Abacan. We had our lunch at Greenwich for a change. The food in KFC and Jollibee is already boring for me and no longer appetizing. I ordered meal number 3 of their Big Time Meal promo for CJ and Acey, which consists of chicken, spaghetti, a rectangle slice of pizza and a regular soda and I ordered peach float for myself, but don’t worry guys, I consumed all the left over of my kids unswervingly and left Greenwich stomach full.

We arrived home around 2 pm and after putting the groceries in order, the installers from SmartBro were knocking at our door ready to set up our broadband connection, SMART is simply AMAZING!!! This is the fastest service I have encountered in my entire life. It only took them less than 30 minutes to complete the installation and I’m already on the internet via broadband, AWESOME!!!

Before, I was only on 32 kbps connection to check my yahoo mails and chat with my husband and can’t even attempt to surf the net, the slow connection is unbearable.

The monthly fee is Php999, a bit pricey but it’s worth it. Last night, we were chatting with my husband, he can see the kids through viewcam and I can see how pleased he was with uninterrupted online connection.

Speaking of webcam, I’ve tried different brands and all are blurry. My brother have done the same until he discovered A4tech viewcam worth Php750 only.

I now have faster connection and a clear webcam, no more reason to complain but to enjoy the internet world.
